0x40 Hues v5.11

Woah woah calm down, there's nothing new but a few small things.

This is way past due, but here's a Hues based on the Winter (v5.1) codebase with the 5.0 Defaults instead. Contains the new beat characters and effects and such, too.

Why .11? It has a tiny teeny bit of a changelog:

  • Flashvars: you can set the options (blur amount, automatic song changing, scaling, etc.) in an <embed>/<object> tag. Check out this paste for possible values and a barebones example.
  • SHIFT now randoms a song
  • 5.0 Defaults: Removed the white from Lain animation

Here's the updated 0x40 Hues of Winter 5.11, too
You can read more about 5.1 here and 5.0 here, or just scroll down a tad since we don't post that much.

Until next time!
Hey my first post on the blog.

    1. That means a setting has gone wonky: That part highlights the correct buttons in the Options tab and I hadn't idiot-proofed it, since before it was very unlikely the options could be set to bad values.

Are you setting the options with flashvars? Check them for typos.
If you're not, try clearing your Flash cache: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html

    2. Yeah, I just mistyped a value for one of the options.

Also, would a flashvar to load a custom respack be capable of being implemented? I asked before about combining them (a la "copy x.swf + y.zip >> z.swf" or whatever), but I was thinking it would be easier to just make it a flashvar, if at all possible.

  2. The X / O blur only beat chars are not functioning for me on the v4.20 interface but work on all the other interfaces

  4. All this time and you still don't have Shizune Hakamichi, how can you live with yourself?

  5. Is there an official list of all the hues included nowadays? I could swear that there must be more than 0x40 of them in this release.

    1. There are 3 sets of 0x40 available in the Options tab: Normal, Pastel, and v4.20.
There's no convenient list up right now with all the names and hex values, but we'll post one soon.

  7. Where can I find the images used in v5.11? I checked the default respack download, but it only had the songs. The links on the default sources page are broken too.

    1. Links are working okay on my end, but here's a zip with all the default images

  8. The Lain animation is really neat and all, but I think it seems odd that she's the only one that's animated. Seems kind of out of place that way.

    1. You can suggest new characters on the Character Requests page, although we've gotten way behind on adding new ones to the pack.

Nozomi is actually already in the extras pack though. You can add her by going to the Resources menu in the flash (the shortcut key is R) and load "[NEW] Char Package" under Remote Respacks.
